What is Strengthen Oklahoma Fortified Grant Program?

The Strengthen Oklahoma Homes Program—also known as OKReady—is an initiative by the Oklahoma Insurance Department aimed at helping homeowners fortify their primary residences against severe weather, such as high winds, hail, and tornadoes. The program provides grants of up to $10,000 per approved household to help cover the costs of retrofitting or upgrading roofs to meet the rigorous IBHS FORTIFIED Home™ – Roof™ – High Wind designation (with the Hail Supplement).

This enhanced roof standard is designed to reduce storm damage and can also lead to insurance premium discounts for homeowners.

1

2

McRoof.us and Fortified Grant Program

There are very few evaluators and fortified roofers approved by Oklahoma insurance department for inclusion in this initial roll out, including McRoof and our founder, Scott McCollum Sr.

Scott McCollum Sr.

Oklahoma Fortified Evaluator

NOTE: If you choose Scott McCollum Sr. as your evaluator, McRoof.us will not be able to be your contractor. In other words, if you want McRoof.us to build your fortified roof, do not select Scott as your evaluator!

The fee is $750 and is payable as follows:

  • 50% once your home has been inspected and deemed eligible for the program and OID has been notified of eligibility
  • 50% when fortified has “designated” your home and prior to mailing or delivery of your designation certificate

There is no additional fee to determine the initial eligibility for the grant program. Should your home not be eligible, it will cost you nothing.

Your home might not qualify for a fortified designation if:

  • Your foundation type does not qualify
  • Your roof framing does not meet criteria

Why Fortified?

FORTIFIED goes beyond building codes to improve performance against natural hazards and reduce the risk of personal property loss.

FORTIFIED Home™ is a nationally recognized building method based on more than 20 years of scientific research and real-world testing by the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS).

Your roof provides the first line of defense against the elements and an IBHS FORTIFIED Roof™ provides better protection against severe weather.
